The Kalispel Tribe of Indians and Newport Hospital and Health Services Foundation recently gifted the Pend Oreille Public Hospital District with five custom benches created by Kalispel Metal Products.

The new benches will be placed at various locations across the medical campus in Newport.

"The Foundation Board was excited to support this project for our community! We all appreciate the Tribe's generosity in sharing the cost of the benches," said Jenny Smith, NHHS Marketing and Foundation director.

Custom benches by Kalispel Metal Products of Cusick, Wash., typically run around $2,000 each, as they are custom-designed from sheet metal, locally fabricated and powder-coated to last many years. According to Smith, the Kalispel Tribe Economic Authority supported a portion of the cost since NHHS Foundation was purchasing them to support the district.
